Time Strategies

Image
Time management is very important to have a successful outcome. Being in college can throw a lot of things at you. Therefore, organizing should always be your top priority. The articles that I have chosen to read were  The Myth of Too Busy   by Tim Grahl and  4 Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination  by Peter Banerjea. These articles were useful because it gives us a reminder that we can do better to boost our motivation. I realized that I do have a lot on my plate for this semester due from finishing up some medical school applications, being involved on campus, and doing some community service work. I notice that time management is a big issue so having a planner will set everything out accordingly.  Link Text .

Technology

I am familiar with most of the basic technology tools. It's been a long time since I had taken an online class. The last time that I have taken an online course was my senior year in high school. This class will be my first online class in college. I am not sure if there are any web skills that I am interested, but it will come across as weeks go by. Assignments

I am excited about having the opportunity to write things that come through my mind for this class. Blogs are always a fun way to express our feelings. Ever since I have studied Microbiology, Pre-Med, I never had the chance to write from my thoughts and feelings, including with typing up blog posts. There are a few extra credit options that I am excited about, including with the heart related growth mindsets. Sometimes, college can bring people down. Therefore, the heart related growth mindsets can always turn your frown upside down with possibilities and positivities. "Kanye West's Job Interview with Meryl Streep" video at  YouTube .

Growth Mindset

Image
Most ted talks that I have recently watched were very interesting because they do make sense. They manipulate in some parts of your mind to initiate the ideas they were trying to apply. I have not heard of Carol Dweck, but she does know what she is doing. The growth mindset is always important for most people so that they can improve in their lives. Carol Dweck is right. Sometimes life can be hard, but that doesn't mean you should consider failure as your complete check-off list. It just means, "not yet," as in you are not done yet. Life is all about practice before perfect. It takes time and practice to be better at things like playing sports or studying for exams. What I realized was that you must work harder to put yourself up to the top. From my experience, I didn't study too much in high school and I still had a high 4.0 GPA. After attending college, it is completely different. You must study and even know how to study to become better for your achievements. What...

The Introduction of My Life

Image
(Image Information: personal photo of myself, July 2018) Hi everyone, my name is Hoai-Quoc Pham. I am a senior studying Microbiology, Pre-Med here at the University of Oklahoma. Fun fact about me is that I love to dance hip-hop. It's been awhile since I did hip-hop in high school, but there were times that I participated in events at OU like Homecoming and it is truly a stress relief when college does kick your butt. I also love to cook and bake and it's funny how my family and friends become so impressed by that. I love to travel, play basketball, and just going out and trying different restaurants like Guy Fieri. My favorite foods are Italian, Thai, and sushi. Recently, I went on a vacation with my family to Cancun and their meals were amazing. The workers there were going nuts by giving away tequila shots on every corner. Last summer, I participated in a study abroad program called Italy 2.0 and I highly recommend it. We studied mostly over the southern coast of Italy l...

Storybook Favorites

Image
The storybooks that I have chosen may have different similarities, but some of the details that they include may relate to my situations in life. Elephants of Indian Epics This storybook brought to my attention because it almost relates to my life as Buddhism. Stories can be told in many ways to teach and give lessons for the younger generations. Therefore, these stories can transition into morals that will help these children succeed later in their lives. This can also help them become stronger to face challenges from the outside of the world. Overall, the title did do a great job in describing what the storybook was about. This storybook was creative because it gives a story about the kids and their father telling them stories that would teach them about life lessons for their futures. When Love Confesses This storybook has brought to my attention because I am actually in this situation deciding if love is truly worth your time of your life. I met someone in college and I tho...

My Favorite Place: Capri, Italy

Image
Capri, Italy was the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I participated in this study abroad program called OU Italy 2.0 with the President's Community Scholars and the LEAD Team organizations in Summer 2017.  When we were being surprised with a boat ride around the Mediterranean Sea and I have never felt so alive. Everything was so beautiful, like a dream that I wouldn't want to wake up to. The sea was so blue, the mountains we're so high, and the atmosphere was so relaxing that I wouldn't mind staying in the boat for a very long time. It was my moment in which I was distracted by everything else. Nevertheless, everyone around me had such a great time. This trip was considered a traveling experience for me that I felt grateful to be taken away to.  R. Halfpaap Photographer taken on July 11, 2017.  Faraglioni, Capri, Italy.  link text .
