Reading Notes: Jataka Tales, Part B

Notes:
  • A king has three sons:
    • Prince of the Stars.
    • Moon Prince.
    • Sun Prince.
  • The queen went away because she was afraid of the king's decision.
  • Therefore, the king told his son's to live in the forest before his death.
  • Then after his death, come back and the palace would be theirs.
  • However, the sun prince asked where they were going.
  • After the sun prince heard what happened, the sun prince wanted to come with them as well.
  • The three brothers then stumbled upon the the King of Fairies.
  • A watersprite asked the sun prince a question.
  • The two other brothers were getting worried and the Moon Prince went to the pond where the sun prince was.
  • As the Moon Prince reaches to the pond, the watersprite asked him another question as well.
    • The watersprite said he didn't know the answer as well so he dragged him to the cave where the Sun Prince was.
  • The older brother, the Prince of the Stars then went to find his two brothers.
  • Then the prince of stars stumbled upon the watersprite and knew it was him.
  • Then the prince asked why the watersprite carried off his brothers.
    • He explained that they didn't know the right answer.
    • So the prince told him that he will answer the right answer this time.
  • The prince answered correctly to the watersprite and then took him to his brothers.
  • After that, the three brothers lived in the forest until their king passed away.
    • Then they went back to the palace.
    • The older brother became king and all three of the brothers ruled together.
    • The older brother also built a home for the water-sprite in the palace grounds as well.

Week 2 Story: Everyone Wins

Once upon a time, there was student, named Paper, who was attending his first middle school. As he took his first steps into the school building, he became stoked. He met wonderful teachers and staff along the way. However, he didn’t have any friends. His teachers told him to try to make friends or else he would be alone. The next few minutes later, he hopped onto a random groups conversation, but realized that it didn’t work out so well for him. He just didn’t know how to find the right friend groups. As Paper was walking out of his last class for the day, he got pushed down in the hallway by the scissor jocks. The scissor jocks picked and teased on him because he looked different from them.
